Before flights or forms, before the bag is packed — the heart turns. This phase is for the quiet work of asking, and being ready to be invited.
The Hajj begins long before the airport. It begins the moment you decide, quietly, that you want to stand at the House — and that you want it for the sake of Allah alone.
إِنَّمَا الْأَعْمَالُ بِالنِّيَّاتِ، وَإِنَّمَا لِكُلِّ امْرِئٍ مَا نَوَى
“Actions are but by intentions, and every person will have only what he intended.”

One of the most beloved practices for asking to be invited: pray Fajr in congregation, remain in your place in the masjid until the sun rises, then pray two rakʿah of Ishrāq (Duḥā). The reward, by the mercy of Allah, is the reward of a complete Hajj and ʿUmrah.
مَنْ صَلَّى الْغَدَاةَ فِي جَمَاعَةٍ ثُمَّ قَعَدَ يَذْكُرُ اللَّهَ حَتَّى تَطْلُعَ الشَّمْسُ، ثُمَّ صَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ، كَانَتْ لَهُ كَأَجْرِ حَجَّةٍ وَعُمْرَةٍ، تَامَّةٍ، تَامَّةٍ، تَامَّةٍ
“Whoever prays Fajr in congregation, then sits remembering Allah until the sun rises, then prays two rakʿah — has the reward of a complete Hajj and ʿUmrah. Complete, complete, complete.”

If your masjid is reachable, go. If not, pray at home with your family in jamāʿah.
Remain seated, doing dhikr, reading Qurʾān, making duʿāʾ — until the sun has fully risen (about 15–20 minutes after sunrise).
Two short rakʿah, with a quiet heart. This is when you ask.
“Yā Allah, invite me to Your House. Make me of those who stand at ʿArafah.” Ask in your own words too — this is between you and Him.
A simple practice: take a quiet moment and write your intention. Why you want to go. Who you are asking for. What you hope to leave behind. Read it back to yourself when the path feels long.
Beyond the obligation — what is the deeper reason your heart turned toward this? Write it as if no one will ever read it.
Write the names you mean to carry. The ones you'll bring up at Multazam, the ones you'll cry for at ʿArafah, the ones who didn't ask but you know need it.
If Allah grants the trip, what is the one change you hope returns with you? Write the smallest, truest version of it.
